Practical Example: Aircraft & Engine Phase In - Automatic Data Loader

The phase-in of a new aircraft and engines can be a time-consuming task. One of the largest cargo operators wanted to change this situation and contacted EXSYN. We established an aircraft data loader to automatically phase in all airworthiness data of the aircraft and engine needed in the client’s MRO/M&E software system.

 Situation

To phase in several new aircraft and engines means managing resources between ongoing operations and one-of-project phase-ins is challenging. Our customer knew this can even constrain the revenue growth of the company if something is not going as planned albeit all airworthiness data needs to be available in the system to manage the aircraft and be operational. Time is money and manual data entry is not only costing lots of time but is human error sensitive as well. Format, and completeness of data varied according to aircraft and engine type effective timeliness.

Solution

A means to load aircraft and/or engine delivery data into the customer’s MRO/M&E software system through converting original delivery documentation into a format that allows automated entry of the data into the MRO/M&E system. Whilst following the functional principles of the MRO system and ensuring data integrity of the MRO/M&E system data structure in such a way that the customer’s business processes to the MRO/M&E software system can be executed as intended.

Benefits

  • Data availability – Data was made available in real-time after being ingested and formatted. Data availability improved from minutes to milliseconds.

  • Improve the efficiency of the operation – Incorporation of exception-based alerting and the ability to model decisions before execution delivered

  • Reduce the risk of non-compliance - Airworthiness compliance data is fully and correctly available in the MRO software system.

  • Automated data validation checks - Build-in automated aircraft data validation checks significantly reduced the required verification effort by engineering specialists. Ultimately propelling data quality to higher standards

  • Time and cost savings - Reduce total costs of ownership by eliminating manual data entries.
