Internship and Area assignment: Large Language Models for customer support

We offer an exciting internship opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team and work on a cutting-edge project. The internship will focus on leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to transform our customer support desk operations. With the increasing complexity of aviation maintenance systems and the technical queries our clients encounter, it has become imperative to find more efficient, accurate and faster ways to provide solutions.

The research will focus on:

“The implementation of a Large Language Model as a first point-of-contact for Technical Customer Support within EXSYN’s platform.”

The implementation of LLMs as a first response point for our customer support desk is essential for several reasons:

  • Aviation maintenance is a highly specialized field with intricate systems, regulations, and technical nuances. LLMs have the potential to quickly and accurately provide technical answers, helping our customers resolve issues faster.

  • By automating the initial response to routine technical questions, our support team can focus on more complex and unique inquiries, thereby increasing overall efficiency.

  • LLMs can handle a large volume of queries simultaneously, allowing us to scale our customer support operations to meet growing demand without significantly increasing staff.

During the internship, the intern will:

  • Gain an understanding of data collection and preprocessing: Gather historical customer support data, technical queries, and responses to train the LLM effectively. This data can be collected from our internal records and scraped from publicly available internet sources.

  • Gain an understanding of data mining and model training: Utilize state-of-the-art LLMs to train a custom model on the collected data. Fine-tune the model to understand the specific technical jargon and requirements of the aviation maintenance industry.

  • Gain an understating of integration techniques: Integrate the LLM into our customer support desk platform, ensuring seamless interaction between the model and our support staff.

  • Gain an understating of Quality Assurance: Implement quality control mechanisms to ensure that the LLM's responses meet the high standards for accuracy and relevance.

  • Contribute significantly to feature development within the EXSYN landscape.

  • Establish technical documentation for future reference.

During this internship, a combination of fieldwork, theoretical research and modelling are to be expected.

What We Ask

  • Be a Bachelor student in the field of aviation

  • Familiar with programming languages (SQL, Python, Java, etc.)

  • Familiar with natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning.

  • Have big interest in technological developments and how this impacts the aviation industry

  • Be able to work independently and have proper time management skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
